  • FULL TIME – TEMP TO HIRE
  • STARTING WAGE IS $22/HR WITH MERIT AND ANNUAL RAISES
  • PAID CDL TRAINING PROGRAM
  • LOTS OF OVERTIME – UP TO 70 HOURS PER WEEK AS WEATHER ALLOWS (THIS MEANS UP TO $1275 FOR ONE WEEK) WITH NO LAYOFFS IN THE WINTER. EMPLOYEE MUST BE ABLE TO OCCASIONALLY WORK OUT OF TOWN FOR 1 TO 2 WEEKS AT A TIME. MUST BE ABE TO WORK A FLEXIBLE WORK SCHEDULE DURING BUSY SEASON. MUST BE ABLE TO WORK LATE OR IRREGULAR HOURS AND UP TO 14 HOURS A DAY IN BUSY SEASON.
  • PAID HOTEL AND PER DIEM WHEN WORKING OUT OF TOWN
  • NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED – CANDIDATE MUST HAVE GREAT ATTENDANCE, KNOWLEDGE IN CONSTRUCTION FIELD AND TAKE PRIDE IN THEIR WORK. PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IN ROAD CONSTRUCTION IS A PLUS.
  • MUST BE ABLE TO PASS A BACKGROUND CHECK, PHYSICAL AND DRUG SCREEN

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.

Safely load and unload Traffic Control Equipment according to department standards.

Place traffic control devices correctly to assure traffic moves through construction and maintenance zones safely, duties may vary according to job assignment.

Perform maintenance on Traffic Control equipment and inform management of any safety concerns or problems.

Perform temporary and permanent striping per Traffic control plan

With proper training will be able to read, understand and follow Traffic Control plan, maps and records to assure that the Traffic Control equipment are in the proper positions on the project.

Must maintain safety standards as instructed.

Operate equipment according to directions.

Will be required to operate a company vehicle. Requires a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.

Will operate a bobcat, skid loader, and other company equipment and vehicles where a valid Class A CDL is required.  CDL is not required at time of employment, but some positions may require obtaining one after being hired with the assistance of the Company.

Demonstrates continuous effort to improve efficiency.

Work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality customer service.

Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience: 

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the desirable knowledge, skills and abilities. Previous experience in the traffic control field is helpful.

Language Skills: 

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, city directories, road maps, load tickets, SDS sheets and memos. Ability to write routine correspondence or documentation as needed.

Mathematical Skills:

Basic math skills–addition, subtraction, multiplication and division needed.

Reasoning Ability: 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

A valid Class A CDL will be desirable.  If you do not have a CDL, employee must be qualified and able to get the CDL within 6 months of date of employment with the assistance of the company.  Must have a valid NE Driver’s license with a good driving record to meet insurability requirements to drive company vehicles.

Other Skills and Abilities: 

Must have good interactive skills to be able to deal with the public, co-workers, supervisors, and Inspectors. Must meet insurability for driving requirements of the company vehicles.  Previous experience operating a bobcat and other construction type equipment is desired.  Previously demonstrated leadership skills to assist in project coordination, support and direction are very important. Knowledge of safe and efficient operation of hand and power tools—shovels, handheld power tools, etc.

Other Qualifications: 

Must understand and maintain the internal and external customer service responsibilities of the position.  Must be able to be out of town for 1 to 2 weeks at a time.  Must be able to work a flexible work schedule during busy season.  Must be able to work late or irregular hours.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, use hands and fingers to handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift sandbags and/or move up to 75 pounds to shoulder height (48”), there may be times that lifting 25 lbs. overhead is required. Additionally the employee will carry sandbags a distance of 50 feet. The employee will step up to a 24” step. Must be able to climb in and out of a truck. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must wear protective devices as required by the company safety policy in the performance of the job.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions (may be extreme hot and cold). The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts, vehicles, minimal amount of non-hazardous dust daily and fumes or other possible airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to very loud. Must be flexible regarding the work assigned and the constant changes which may impact a project.  This is a seasonal job and based on work availability with road construction.  This is a non-smoking campus.

Candidate is required to meet the above qualifications, task frequency and PPE requirements.  Approval of pre-employment reference & background checks, and post offer drug/alcohol testing with back screens (if required) are required as conditions of employment.
